ECM Casa V Espresso Machine
Compact, practical, powerful. The body of the Casa V with its rounded edges is crafted by hand. With a width of 8″ it is extremely narrow and therefore suitable also for small kitchens. The Casa V is a classic single-boiler machine gleaming with polished stainless steel.
Our Casa order is being built now with an expected arrival in mid June.

The Casa V from ECM Germany is our most eagerly anticipated Italian-built machine under $1,000. We see it combining the best of German design and Italian craftsmanship. This position has been held by the Rancilio Silvia for the last decade, but we love the cleanliness and build quality of ECM, and their pedigree as one of the longest established makers of top-of-the-line equipment.
What features have us excited about the Casa V? Our technicians love the heavy duty construction, both inside and out. There are no plastic switches or bezels to crack, and it’s clear that this machine has been designed to make maintenance straight-forward for years to come. Casa has a fully polished stainless steel case and a large .4 liter brass boiler. This boiler paired with a powerful 1200 watt heating element yields a 5-8 minute warm-up time, which is faster than most machines in this class. The boiler delivers great steam power and solid temperature consistency in the shot. The Casa V also includes a beautiful ergonomic and chrome plated commercial 58mm portafilter and a fully articulating steam wand. Because it rotates on a ball hinge, you can accommodate multiple pitcher sizes and angle the steam tip right where you want it. The brew pressure is externally adjustable, and that pressure is displayed during your shot on the custom gauge. Once the steam button is pressed, ample steam power is available in about a minute.
Aesthetically, ECM has updated the profile of the Casa and added a distinctive gauge that reminds us of Italian race cars.
If you’re looking for a beautiful workhorse that can produce excellent espresso, steam occasional milk drinks quickly, and will be maintainable for the long haul, the Casa is ready to impress. If you’d like to entertain or make multiple drinks back to back, we recommend you also take a look at our heat exchanger and dual boiler espresso machine models.

Single boiler espresso machines take significantly less time than most dual boilers and heat exchangers, in a more cost effective and compact footprint. Steaming milk requires waiting for the machine to heat up to steam mode. But single boilers can be a great fit for those that only drink straight espresso or only make occasional milk drinks.
Vibratory pumps are the most common design in compact espresso machines, because they’re durable, compact and economical. Although they’re a bit louder than rotary pumps, when adjusted to proper 9 bar brew pressure vibratory pumps offer comparable espresso quality.
