From the sister company of Profitec, ECM introduces their highly anticipated flagship dual boiler espresso machine: the Synchronika. When we first saw this machine, we were very excited about this combination of German design and Italian heritage. Why the love at first sight? ECM has applied subtle beautification and refinement of the little things that set apart the offerings in this equipment class. This machine offers exceptional espresso performance and steam power in a package that would look and feel perfect in the design-conscious home, office or restaurant, and its clean internal layout will warm the heart of every engineer. Front and center is ECM’s patented update of the most iconic group head design on the market, which now utilizes stainless steel internals and a simpler single top cap. The reason for implementing more stainless steel parts is their durability, cleanliness, and ability to resist calcium build up for simpler maintenance routine.
ECM also added a pair of new stainless steel joysticks with insulated “no-burn” wands, which make steam and hot water dispensing instant on and off. These spring loaded joysticks swivel on a ball joint for easy locking at any point on the rotation, and the steam power can be fine-tuned for different steaming preferences by adjusting the steam boiler using the PID controller.
Next, take in the stunning custom brew and steam pressures gauges. The big block letters and red needle evoke the feel of interacting with a hand-made timepiece or a classic European sports car. The updated PID with chrome finish adds new functionality without sacrificing aesthetics. The ECM Synchronika displays the temperatures of the steam and brew boilers, and has a built in-shot timer to improve shot consistency. The PID’s brushed metal finish combined with the new ability to easily turn the display off means the technology doesn’t have to distract from the timeless looks. It also has the option to turn on an adjustable group cleaning reminder, which could be helpful for building the habit of backflushing your machine. We know some people have questions about why and how to adjust the brewing temperature, as well as the accuracy of the temperature shown on their machine. Rest assured that all of our Italian-made dual boiler machines retain control of brew temperature as well as offset. This means we can always make sure your machine is brewing at the correct temperature in either Fahrenheit or celsius, and help you fine tune your machine for different coffees.
With a capable espresso grinder, the ECM Synchronika can create an espresso experience that rivals your favorite coffee shop. Whether you love traditional Italian-style espresso, or the more subtle and nuanced specialty style, this has the flexibility and consistency to excel.
Eureka Zenith 65E
The Eureka Zenith 65E High-Speed is an exciting new tier of espresso performance and value for Clive Coffee. If you’re a coffee shop, office or home enthusiast seeking cleaner espresso flavor, the Zenith is ready to impress with faster dispensing (20 grams in 5.5 seconds!), more efficiency, less waste, and a fluffier, more uniform grind. And yes, this grinder comes by default with a short hopper, and the taller commercial hopper is available separately. Short hopper holds approximately 400 grams.
What sets this grinder apart from the myriad of other full sized commercial options? Performance, speed (of course), refinement, longevity and value.
To put into perspective the amount of work this grinder is capable of, it’s rated to grind up to 22lbs of coffee per hour. The reason for this is the pairing of its 65mm hardened steel high speed upgrade burrs to a more-powerful-than-average 510w motor. Eureka has been pioneering micrometric stepless adjustment since 1975. Compared to traditional adjustment where the whole top collar is rotated, the micrometric adjustment knob allows much smaller adjustments to be made and has smooth, fluid feel. This design can’t get clogged and seized with coffee grounds, and the other bonus is the Zenith can be opened for routine cleaning without affecting your grind setting (so no need to recalibrate your grind).
In addition to a more precise and refined grind adjustment, the Zenith has further adjustability to create a customized grind experience. The dispensing chute can be raised or lowered to direct the flow of grounds into the portafilter basket, and the portafilter holder can also be adjusted to accommodate different models. The single and double doses can be programmed down to hundredths of a second, allowing you to dispense your grounds consistently (and hands free with the portafilter holder).
The Zenith 65E has been designed with a focus on grind uniformity and strength, and that solidity can be sensed through every feature and detail. Its 25 pound weight inspires complete confidence, and at $999 this is the highest performing, most durable model and best value we’ve yet found for a cafe spec grinder.

The reservoir is the water tank an espresso machine pulls water from to fill its boilers. Having a reservoir means a machine can be more portable and work in homes where plumbing isn't an option.
Direct plumbing means you can hook a machine directly a water line and never have to worry about refilling your reservoir again. These machines also allow you to connect the drip tray to a drain so you don't have to make that tightrope walk to the sink.
E61 Group Head
The E61 group head was designed in 1961; the fact that it's still around speaks to its reliability. This style of group head allows for mechanical pre-infusion while also exuding romantic espresso machine style.
These machines are built from the ground up with the home barista in mind. They span a wide range of needs but what they all have in common is a focus on creating a great user experience in a footprint that will fit on your counter, and look great there too.
Dedicated temperature controlled boilers for brewing and steaming means both functions can happen simultaneously, with the additional advantage of fine tunability. Sour and bitter espresso flavors can be minimized by raising or lowering brew temperature, resulting in a smoother shot. Adjusting the temperature of the steam boiler can increase or decrease the amount of steam power to suit different drink size milk drinks.
The rotary vane pump offers whisper quiet performance just like your favorite cafe’s machine. This super robust design also allows plumb-ability.
PID Temperature Control
PIDs allow the most precise temperature adjustment and control of boilers by continuously calculating the amount of power needed to maintain the target temperature. They also allow more detailed information to be displayed to the user than digital temperature controlled systems.
Shot timers measure the brew time from the time the pump is activated. This information is extremely helpful for dialing in an espresso grinder to the ideal 25 second 1.5oz shot, and maintaining consistency.
Switchable Water Source
A switchable machine is not limited to either a water reservoir or plumbing. Large water reservoirs are always available for portability, but the plumbing line is also included and switching the water source between them is a breeze.
Joystick Operated Steam/Hot Water
Joystick operated valves make steam and hot water dispensing instant on and off. Simply flick the steam valve when the milk has reached the optimum temperature, and the valve will spring closed. These non compression valves are a very durable and easy to maintain design that has been used in commercial equipment for decades.
