Slayer Espresso has taken the best of existing technology and combined it with an ingenuitive pre-brew system to bring us a flavor profiling machine like no other.

Using patented precision needle valve technology, the flow of water can be reduced to softly pre-infuse the coffee and allow it to bloom before extraction. Pre-brew can either be programmed in or manually controlled using the paddle actuator, giving the barista a great feel for every shot. The pre-brew function can also be used to ease off the water flow at the end of the extraction to provide yet another dimension to your espresso.

The temperature, brew pump pressure, and general settings are accessed via a glass touchscreen which also digitally displays both pre-brew and full-brew shot times. The machine houses a proprietary quiet gear pump and generously large dual boilers with accurate PID temperature control. The saturated brew group with a pre-heat coil delivers consistent temperatures to the group head and contains an auto-bleed function.

Designed and handmade in Seattle, Slayer 1-Group espresso machines can be personalized to fit into any environment, or to stand out and make its presence known. The machines are direct-plumb only, and also require a drain line from the drip tray.

A custom Slayer is the perfect way to add your personality to your kitchen or office. Contact us for more details on creating a custom Slayer. Customizations start at $500.

The Macap M7D (D for digital doserless) is Macap’s flagship, ultimate espresso grinder. For enthusiasts and shops that are seeking: greater depth of flavors, the ability to highlight subtle floral or aromatic flavors, increased body and mouthfeel, and more consistent grind quality with less need for adjustment, a large conical burr can provide higher performance than even the largest flat burr. In our experiments at Clive Coffee, we have found that upgrading to a top quality espresso grinder can make a more noticeable improvement in flavor than changing espresso machines. If you are looking for the best way to improve your espresso, in your shop or in your home and haven’t yet tried a large, conical burr grinder, then consider doing so before you replace your single boiler, heat exchanger or dual boiler machine. You might be surprised at its ability to unlock the performance of your machine.

The main reasons why large conical burr grinders have such unique performance and receive such rave reviews are that their larger burrs (68mm here, as well as in most popular conicals) have longer cutting surfaces, resulting in very consistent particle distribution and the ability to make very fine adjustments to the grind. The longer cutting lengths require a more powerful motor (800 watts in the Macap M7D), which operate at very low speed (400 RPM here), so these more consistent grinds are dispensed more quickly with minimal friction from the burrs and motor. Lower RPM also means noticeably lower volume while grinding. The stepless worm drive, combined with both manual and programmable grind dispensing, mean that fine tuning your favorite espresso flavor is more intuitive and repeatable.

Size and price can be a barrier for bringing higher end espresso grinders into a home, but the M7D has a smaller visual footprint due to it’s smaller chute, and the body is only 15 inches tall with the hopper removed (for single dosing), or 20 inches tall with the optional short hopper.

Compared to compact commercial grinders, the M7D’s 800w motor has more than three times the power of the average small commercial unit. It’s 400 RPM speed is a quarter the speed that most small commercial units run. This translates to a very smooth, quiet and refined grinding experience. The M7D will produce a superb fluffy grind quickly and with minimal grounds retention. You should notice more obvious and abundant flavor across a range of roast levels (particularly in light to medium roasts). Dosing and grind consistency will be extremely consistent with single dosing, or programming your dose to hundredths of a second.
