Overview

What is it?

The Breville Barista touch is home espresso machine with a built-in grinder, thermocoil, PID, built-in shot timer, and an internal reservoir.

Who is it for?

For those who want an affordable and easy way to have their espresso and cappuccinos at home. You want to stop investing a small fortune at your local coffee shop but you're not looking to become a barista yourself. You want something with a small footprint and enough power to make lattes for a few guests.

Why do we carry it?

The Breville Barista Touch isn't just any entry level espresso machine. It's been designed to from the ground up to provide solid shots of espresso and perfectly steamed milk with minimal fuss. While we normally avoid automatic or super automatic espresso machines, this one follows all the same rules we'd use with a semi-automatic machine and espresso grinder. Its intuitive touchscreen display is used to adjust shot time, dosing, milk temperature, and frothiness. You can even program and name custom drinks so that everyone's ideal cup of coffee is only ever one touch away. Its automatic steam wand produces perfectly textured milk that's (on par with even the best barista) at whatever temperature you desire. It's thermocoil design also means that it's ready to start pulling shots within mere seconds of turning it on, something no other espresso machine can offer. Altogether, the Breville Barista Touch makes it easier than ever to pull true shots of espresso at home, no matter your skill level.

PID Temperature Control

PID Temperature Control

PIDs allow the most precise temperature adjustment and control of boilers by continuously calculating the amount of power needed to maintain the target temperature. They also allow more detailed information to be displayed to the user than digital temperature controlled systems.

Programmable Settings

These grinders can eliminate the variable of how much coffee is ground by controlling grind time or grind weight. For espresso, once grind volume is set, simply adjust the grind gradually finer or coarser to create that perfect espresso shot.

Reservoir

Reservoir

The reservoir is the water tank an espresso machine pulls water from to fill its boilers. Having a reservoir means a machine can be more portable and work in homes where plumbing isn't an option.

Saturated Group Head

Saturated Group Head

Saturated group heads are essentially surrounded by an extended section of the boiler. This means they warm up much faster than E61 group heads and hold a specified temperature more precisely.

Shot Timer

Shot Timer

Shot timers measure the brew time from the time the pump is activated. This information is extremely helpful for dialing in an espresso grinder to the ideal 25-second 1.5oz shot, and maintaining consistency.

Thermocoil

Thermocoil

A thermocoil rapidly heats water either for brewing or to create steam. The greatest benefit of a thermocoil machine is that hot water is available instantly, making for brief to non-existent warm-up times.

Vibratory Pump

Vibratory pumps are the most common design in compact espresso machines because they’re durable, compact and economical. Although they’re a bit louder than rotary pumps when adjusted to proper 9 bar brew pressure vibratory pumps offer comparable espresso quality.
