Description

Water hardness is the silent killer of espresso machines. Too much mineral content causes scale buildup that clogs groupheads, damages heating elements, and blocks solenoid valves — often voiding warranties. These disposable test strips give you a precise hardness reading in seconds, so you know whether your current filtration is working or if you need to adjust before problems start.

Key Features

  • 10 disposable strips for ongoing monitoring (retest every 3 months recommended)
  • Simple dip-and-read process — results in under 60 seconds
  • Measures total hardness in ppm or grains per gallon
  • Works with any water source — tap, filtered, remineralized RO, or bottled
  • Helps dial in filtration systems like BWT Bestmax or inline carbon filters

Pair these strips with Clive's filtration solutions and equipment care resources to keep your machine running clean and your espresso tasting its best.

Tried 3 different strips and it showed no result at all. Our water isn't that soft so it should have indicated something. Very disappointing. Must have received a bad batch

Easy enough to use. With soft water coming from the water filter still, I'm holding off changing the filter for a bit

Great water filter and softener

Water softening and filtration has been an terrific improvement to our drinking water and coffee water. Much better than the SubZero filter that pasta 1/6 as long and costs more as well. Easy to install.

A big help

These little gems help me understand how the Oscar water softening pouch is working! Perhaps consider selling them as a set!

Worked great.

Relatively inexpensive, and an easy way to ensure the longevity of my espresso machine, these strips worked very well. There are quite a few of them in the packet, so I can keep tabs on the water hardness, while using the Oscar pouch in the reservoir.
