Sam Pinkerton

Sam

Sam has been a part of the Clive family since Sept of 2018. She came to us from Florida where her love of coffee was discovered by working as a barista. In 2015, Sam landed in Portland to work with Portland Coffee Roasters as their primary wholesale account manager and coffee trainer. During this time, she also did work for Pacific Foods Barista Series alternative milk in their lab and at SCAA. Sam has taught classes at the American Barista & Coffee Workshops in Portland, as well as leading home barista classes at Clive. Now spearheading the entire education department at Clive, her focus is on our learn espresso journal articles, live classes in Portland, and now online-only classes. Sam’s approach to teaching is thorough, careful, and most importantly, light-hearted and fun.

Sean

Sean

Hailing from New Orleans, Sean developed a passion for coffee at a very early age. With 10 years of barista and coffee training experience under his belt, he joined the Clive CX team in the Summer of 2019—wanting to give espresso enthusiasts more intimate and close instruction. Sean loves pouring lattes and he’d love to pour one with you sometime.

August

August

A Portland native, August has been in the coffee industry for over a decade. Getting his start in a well-known coffee chain and working his way through many specialty cafes, he served as the Director of Training for the American Barista & Coffee workshops before joining the team at Clive. August has consulted for Pacific Foods in the creation of their Barista Series alternative milks, created training programs for Trailhead Coffee Roasters and Water Avenue Coffee, and traveled around the country to help aspiring cafe owners learn the craft of specialty coffee. More than anything, August wants you to have fun with your morning coffee ritual, no matter how you brew it!
