The Sette 30 AP is built for budget-conscious beginners pulling a few espresso shots daily. Unlike the stepless micro-adjustment on higher Sette models, the Sette 30 uses a 30-step macro adjustment system. This means you dial in partly by adjusting grind size and partly by tweaking your dose weight. It's a trade-off for the price — you get the same excellent 40mm conical burrs found in pricier Sette grinders, but with less granular control over particle size.

Despite the 'AP' (All Purpose) designation, the Sette 30 is fundamentally an espresso-focused grinder. Its 30 stepped settings cover a range from fine espresso through medium grinds, so it can handle AeroPress and some pour-over methods acceptably. However, it won't reach a true coarse grind for French press. If you're primarily making espresso with occasional filter brewing, it can manage. For dedicated multi-method grinding across the full spectrum, you'd want a grinder purpose-built for that range.

The Sette 30's straight-through grind path makes cleaning remarkably simple — two twists remove the entire burr assembly. Use a grinder vacuum regularly to clear retained grounds from the burr chamber and chute. Run Cafetto Grinder Cleaner tablets through periodically to remove coffee oil buildup that dulls burrs and creates stale flavors. Always keep the grinder in a dry location away from any moisture, as humidity can cause grounds to clump and degrade burr performance over time.

This is the most common concern, and it's legitimate. With stepped macro-only adjustment, you can't make the tiny grind changes possible on stepless grinders. The workaround is adjusting your dose — if a setting runs slightly fast, adding a gram of coffee can slow the shot down.
