Tuckaway Coffee Roasters' Treehouse Blend is what happens when a roaster gets medium roast exactly right. Blending washed coffees from Guatemala's Finca Ona and Colombia's Cumbres region, this 50/50 split creates a cup that's rich enough to wake you up but refined enough to keep you coming back all morning. Think of it as the platonic ideal of diner coffee—full-bodied, comforting, but with layers of complexity that elevate it far beyond the pot at your corner booth.
The bourbon, caturra, Colombia, and castillo varietals bring complementary strengths: creamy body, bright acidity, and a clean finish that never turns bitter. Grown between 700 and 1,850 meters above sea level, these beans develop slower, building sugars that translate to natural sweetness in the cup.
Tasting Notes
The first sip lands with smooth chocolate—not the intense dark kind, but more like a milk chocolate bar with toasted hazelnuts. As the cup cools, citrus notes emerge: think orange zest rather than grapefruit tang. Baking spices linger in the finish—cinnamon, nutmeg, a whisper of allspice—adding warmth without overwhelming the foundational chocolate and fruit. The body is full but never heavy, with a clean aftertaste that invites the next sip.
This is a forgiving coffee. It tastes good at every temperature, from scalding to lukewarm, which makes it ideal for mornings when you're distracted by emails or kids or the news.
Brew Methods
Treehouse shines in a drip coffee maker or pour over, where its balanced profile can show off without any single note dominating. Use a medium grind and aim for a 1:16 coffee-to-water ratio. It's also excellent in a French press—the fuller body stands up to immersion brewing, and the citrus notes pop even brighter with that method. Not ideal for espresso unless you're blending it; the roast level and origin characteristics are built for filter methods.
