I had a Quick Mill Silvano. Great machine, worked for 5 years, but costs of third repair put me off, leading to purchase of Profitec 500 PID. 1) If you're trying to compare Profitec to other similar machines, I would say save the time and purchase the Profitec 500. I compared for days, read reviews, etc. The competition is by ECM, which turns out, is very similar to this machine, and slightly more costly. 2) E61 rules. It's night and day difference between this and non-E61 like the Quick Mill Silvano that I had. Shots are actually EASIER to pull, a lot less work goes into adjusting parameters. Every single shot comes out great as long the grind and dose are proper. I couldn't believe how much less coffee I waste between shots. Results are very consistent shot to shot. Beans I couldn't pull properly before are now pulling without effort. It's kind of amazing! 3) Machine is quiet. Not sure how much more quiet a Rotary pump would be, but this is very quiet (unlike Quick Mill Silvano which was loud). I wouldn't get a Rotary pump for the sake of quietness. If you need the machine plumbed, that's a different story. 4) Steaming wand works great. Steaming capability is a lot better than the smaller Quick Mill Silvano. 5) Cosmetically, the machine is absolutely great-looking. 6) Ordering from Clive Coffee was effortless. Fast, secure shipping. I applaud them for their periodic emails sent before and after machine delivery. Even for someone who's used to using espresso machines, I found them helpful and properly timed. They seem to be running a nice business. Hopefully when it comes to service, they'd deliver too.
