Automatic shot timer that attaches to espresso machines via sensor on solenoid. Customers said "works very well" and is "super accurate." Installation is "easy" though sensor placement requires adjustment. Praised for improving consistency and eliminating manual timing. Some noted magnets fell off and documentation is limited. One incompatibility reported with Gaggia.

  • Consistency has improved 100 fold since purchase.
  • Life changing. Just get one.
  • Times reliably every time, hugely convenient and accurate.

Works great!

A bit expensive but we only live once, right? I had been using a cheap Polder timer, but inevitably would forget to press Start, or accidentally (in morning pre-coffee fog) press the OFF button on my machine instead of the button on the timer next to it. Argghh.

Installation on my 20+ year old Vivaldi II was simple. One Philips-head screw to remove the warming tray, stick the sensor on the 3-way solenoid, put back the tray and screw (exactly per the Clive installation video). I did spend a bit of extra time and a couple wire ties to make sure the wiring stays away from the boiler, but that is probably not necessary.

The rating loses 1-star because the magnets fell out! Each was secured only by a tiny "dot" of double-sided adhesive, and that is clearly not enough. When moving the timer, the magnets remained on the steel surface instead of in the Luminaire. I solved that with a couple drops of 15min epoxy, but I shouldn't have had to mess with that - Luminaire should use better adhesive.

It was hard to find the perfect spot for this on my 20-year-old Vivaldi. Best location seemed to be at the back-right of the warming tray, but it was a bit hard to see there. At the front, it wasn't visible because the tray is recessed below the front panel. Ultimately, I designed an angled "riser" with magnets at the top and bottom, so it could be at the front-right of the tray and be angled upwards for better visibility. For anyone interested, I will be posting that free STL on printables-dot-com very soon.

I am happy with the purchase. Shipping from Clive was super-fast and the video was helpful. 4-stars for the device, 5-stars for Clive. :-)

Perfect on the Linea Mini

This is so great! I was nervous about installing it, but it took only a few minutes to get it on my Linea Mini. It has a magnet on it so that you can install it anywhere on your machine. Most places put it on the front, but I love the design too much to do that, so I have it perched on the top near the cup tray. It's very accurate and has been essential to me learning espresso.

Quick upgrade.

The shot timer works very well for me (I have a La Spaziale Vivaldi). I installed it and it worked immediately out of the box. the biggest challenge with it is where to put it to get the right information.

One cool feature is that you cna run the wire into it from any direction which allows for the cleanest wire runs.

It is not a cheap add on but it works very well and is super accurate. Recommended.

This shot timer has been

This shot timer has been the perfect addition to my Profitec Pro 500PID. It works just fine with the vibration pump on this machine despite what the literature says about it being for rotary pump models. I love not having to use a separate timer for espresso shots.

Works on E61 with caveats

I purchased this for my vintage E61 Quick Mill Andreja Premium and it worked well BUT you will need to play around with sensor placement. The clip was worthless and created too much distance between the sensor and pump. I ended up using double sided tape to mount the sensor perfectly. The timer will kick on every time the pump kicks on but resets quickly and easily.

Life changing

Now I charge my phone in the morning while I make coffee. I used to use it as a stopwatch. Installation was relatively simple. Interested to see how long the battery inside is gonna last. Luckily it turns off after an hour or so of idle time. Its a pretty straightforward device. Just get one.

Great Product

Great product - works as advertised. Would have given it 5 Stars but documentation and installation instructions are limited. Having some electronic knowledge and background is helpful to install properly.

As part of the Shades

As part of the Shades of Coffee modifications on my Gaggia (which work very well), your Shot Timer seemed to be the perfect addition. No matter where the sensor was placed around the pump the Error indication appeared on the display. at no time did the unit work at all. I made the mistake of throwing out the invoice, and so did not return the unit. I made my living working on aircraft and custom yachts, so I'm not a klutz installing mechanical and electrical devices. Your Shot Timer simply does not work.

Works Great on Lelit Anna

I have a Lelit PL41TEM Anna espresso machine and this works great. I recommend you zip tie the probe to the 3 way solenoid in its stick on bracket because if you don’t it will vibrate out of its mount from the pumps vibration. I ran the wire out through the steam wand hole and it’s concealed nicely.

Luminaire Shot Timer via LM Mini

Installation was super easy. The timer does help you gauge your pull and for me it has improved the profile of my extractions.

I'm happy with my purchase and I recommend this item for espresso lovers since the LM Mini does not provide the end user with a timer.

Shot Timer on a LaCimbali

I have always been a shot timer, so the installation of the Luminaire Automatic is a welcome addition. Very easy to put in and use. Highly recommend!

We are glad this worked out for you! We are a big fan of this little timer!

Reliable and invaluable

Added to my La Spaziale LUCCA A53 Mini. Piece of cake to install - just watch Clive's how-to video, took all of 3 minutes. Times reliably every time, hugely convenient and accurate vs. manual timing or even a good timer scale like the Acaia Lunar which is terrific but not the same as timing the brew cycle precisely. Very happy I got it!
