Third Wave Water Packets - 12 Pack

After many years of using filtered water, various bottled waters, I finally decided to control the mineral content of my water and bought both the Espresso and Classic Third Wave Water packets. I am using them in my espresso machine and for my Pour Overs and AeroPress. Depending on the bean/roast I sometimes dilute the packets to 1/2 strength depending on the amount of extraction power I want. I have been very happy with them. I feel like the frequent struggle with getting a sour leaning cup has large gone away and it is one less variable to deal with. I simply add it to a gallon of distilled water and have not found it to be much more than the bottled waters I was previously buying. One more step in the right direction on my coffee journey to the perfect cup!

Some people have found it remarkable, but I could taste a bit of salt. I did better when usin water from a local cafe.

I have very soft water so I probably don't need the packets but did not know if it would be ok in my Espresso machine until I received it. I do recommend them based on ease of use. Just buy a gallon of distilled and drop one packet in. Seems relatively economical as well.

Make sure you order the correct formula. I ordered the wrong one and discovered later it was not suited to espresso machines. I get my starting water from the RO filtered water machine at the grocery store.

Mixing 1 gallon of distilled water with a packet of Clive makes for much better tasting coffee. Our son likes to drop in, fill up his commuter cup with my coffee and enjoy too!

I enjoy using the 3rd wave packets. I can tell a difference in water quality, and my kettles do not scale up as fast as using bottle water.

To be candid, I have no way to evaluate this product. I accept your advice not to use hard water because of mineral deposits in boiler/heating coil or distilled water because of taste and because demineralized water might be too strong a solvent and cause materials problems. So, I use reverse osmosis water and add back the desired minerals level/composition via Third Wave. My expresso machine is only a year old, so I wouldn’t expect to see any effects yet. I plan to continue to use Third Wave on basis of some combination of logic and faith and hope I never find out whether it works or not.
