The Baratza Encore ESP is the espresso grinder that opened the door for thousands of home baristas — and for good reason. It pairs 40mm stainless steel conical burrs with 40 stepped adjustments (20 for espresso, 20 for filter) and a high-torque DC motor that spins at 550rpm to reduce heat and static. At $200, it's the most accessible way to grind fresh for espresso without compromise. This is the grinder Clive's team recommends when someone asks, "What's the best grinder I can get for under $200?" It's not because it's cheap. It's because it works.

This budget-friendly espresso grinder offers "consistent grind" and is "simple to use" with multiple grinding options. Customers said it "performs to this degree" at its price point, producing "amazing" espresso. I am really liking this

I am really liking this machine! I can use it for Chemex and Mokapot brewing but also for espresso grind. Having to try to adjust my Eureka Mignon Oro to grind for decaf espresso was just too complicated and unreliable. But for $200 I now have an espresso grinder for decaf only, making life a lot easier!

    So glad you like it!!

    Buyer Beware

Why does espresso have to be so expensive? I was looking for a budget grinder and still felt $200 was a lot to spend on one. This grinder is cheaply made, creates a mess, wastes product, is loud, and is a nightmare to clean. The first one we bought broke and was replaced under warranty. The replacement just broke, and that's now out of warranty. I like Clive and their customer service, but they should discontinue this grinder. DO NOT BUY.

    Very Okay

The grinder is okay, fairly consistent grind size. My biggest complaint is that the ring burr holder broke within 31 days of purchase/use. I attempted to obtain a replacement for the ring burr holder from Clive Coffee but they were unable to accommodate the request and referred me to Baratza support. 14 days later, still no ring burr holder.

PROS: cheap, easily adjusted, multiple grinding options
Cons: MESSY coffee comes out the sides of the machine(where it shouldn't), we've had this product about 6 months and it gets used once a week in our coffee trailer and it already is having issues. Barely dispensing grinds.

Overall rather disappointed with this product. Would suggest just paying slightly more for something else.

    This was our family’s first

This was our family’s first foray into a true quality grinder. Wow, it’s awesome. Not sure what more expensive or more featured grinders could possibly do better.

So far I’m loving it. Realized my current Ode wasn’t going to cut it for espresso but didn’t have oodles to spend on something like a Niche. For my beginner-level machine, this seems to work great. I bought the single dose hopper for it and wish Baratza would include it standard. The catch cup fits perfectly with my 54mm portafilter. It might not be the fanciest grinder, but it sure beats grinding manually.

    Awesome

Way above expectations. Not even close to finest grind and it's plenty. Small adjustments are pretty so my concern over the steps isn't with worrying about.

Static is minimal, nothing rdt can't take care of

Retention is about .1 to .3 grams though it took a few runs to get there. Single dose, using stock hopper.

Consistent. So amazing something in this price range can perform to this degree.

    Pretty happy
