The Baratza Forté-AP is the rare grinder that refuses to compromise. Equipped with precision 54mm ceramic flat burrs, grind-by-weight and grind-by-time modes, and stepless macro/micro adjustment, it moves seamlessly from pulling espresso shots at 2E to dosing 80 grams for pour over at 10A — without skipping a beat. This is the grinder for people who want one machine that does everything at a professional level, whether that's dialing in a new single origin or grinding for cold brew on Sunday morning.

At under $850, the Forté-AP delivers performance you'd expect from grinders twice the price. It's fast, quiet, consistent, and built to last years of daily use. Baratza's reputation for reliability and outstanding customer service makes this one of the safest investments in home coffee equipment.

If you're brewing pour over in the morning and pulling shots in the afternoon — or if you're a multi-coffee household where one person drinks espresso and another drinks Chemex — the Forté-AP is the grinder that eliminates the need for a second machine. It's also excellent for small cafés, mobile coffee carts, or tasting labs where flexibility and precision both matter.

If you value speed, consistency, and the ability to dose by weight without adding a separate scale to your workflow, this is the grinder. And if you've ever been frustrated by grinders that excel at one thing but fall apart when you try to do something else, the Forté-AP is the answer.

    Do not buy this junk!!!!!!!!!

Workhorse! Still going strong since 2016

I bought this because of the high quality grind and it fits on my small counter next to my Profitec Pro 300.

The shots from my set up are perfect crema and delicious. The video I saw showing the grinding with hands free and no mess I was not able to duplicate. I need to shake the portafilter slightly as it grinds to keep coffee off the counter. Maybe I am doing something wrong? I haven’t ever asked Clive but maybe I will.

The service from both Clive and Baratza are excellent. Clive contact Baratza for me about a dead screen and they sent me a replacement for free. I was able to replace it myself at home.

The other issue I have had was my fault. My friend gave me a super oily bean and I used this grinder for a coffee for my coffee maker. The grinder got clogged.

Clive was a couple months out on repair time in their shop. I contacted Baratza to get the item to unlock the burrs. It comes with the machine but I lost it. I was able to open the grinder and take off the burrs and unclog the spout. I am not handy but I was able to do this myself.

Really, what more can I expect from a grinder??? I love it. Clive does everything they can to keep me a happy customer. Clive’s service and the products they have on their website are both awesome!

    Best money ever spent for

Best money ever spent for espresso. I thought I had a decent grinder before but now I realize. Well built, solid grinder. As with any grinder, need to run it while shifting to a finer macro grind, so I've had to get used to wasting some coffee grinds. Based upon my pre-purchase research though, this grinder doesn't 'retain' a lot when changing beans or settings. We do this often, using both the portafilter and basket dispensing.

    Baratza support is phenomenal

The machine is incredible. Clive support has a lot to be desired. Had an issue with settings and the response I got was something to the effect "what a great question. You need to call Baratza support". I did. Baratza is everything that Clive Coffee is not. The support team is phenomenal.

    Perfect Grinder for our Needs

We bought the Baratza Forte-AP grinder specifically because we wanted a grinder to use between drip coffee and espresso. Most days we make Hario V60 for breakfast and cappuccinos in the afternoon. We didn't want to buy two grinders for our older Portland home. The dial in is smooth with the clear number and alphabetical system. The hopper is easy to remove and empty to change beans. We have an La Pavoni espresso machine and the grind is crucial to making a quality espresso. The Barata Forte has lived up to our expectations. It also fits under our counter which is an added bonus.

    Weighs and times! : )

I have an older Baratza (Maestro plus) that I use to grind cold brew so I was pretty sure I'd like the Forte. I just got interested in learning to brew espresso and bought a nice entry level machine. The Forte will serve me well when I decide to upgrade to a 'prosumer' level espresso machine in a year or two. Very nice grinder and good 'fit and finish' with the convenience of being able to measure both by time and weight. I use the weight measurement most often because it's more accurate when switching between beans, but the timed grind goes right into the portafilter which is great too.

    Great Grinder

Forté AP is a great little grinder. I especially like the smart dose feature which converts a weighted dose to a timed one, so you can grind your exact dose directly into the portafilter. It’s a very well built grinder and takes up a small footprint. I highly recommend it.

A beautifully made machine with incredible consistency issues

I've been having a ton of issues dialing this grinder in - and I have lots of experience with numerous grinders and espresso machines. I have been keeping everything super-consistent, from beans to single-dosing to tamping and I can get variations in double shot times of up to 10 seconds on back-to-back shots, and I can move the grind adjustment a significant amount ~6 micro steps without affecting grind coarseness and shot time.

Hopefully, I just have a defective unit and I've been working with the excellent customer service folks at both Clive and Baratza to trouble-shoot.

Commercial Grade - Get it for your Home or Office

We are very happy with this Grinder.

We bought a Lucca M53 mini from Ben Piff for our office and we paired it with the Barratza Forte AP Grinder.

This grinder can help you pull great espresso's right out of the box. We find that our espressos taste great around the 2 Macro setting and the micro setting between E-K depending on the bean.

We like this grinder because it is built for commercial use so it will always work great for the home or office.

It has a well built and heavy feel to it.

It is easy to adjust the grind setting.

Since we were setting this machine up in our office, we wanted the grinder and the Lucca M53 to be as automatic as possible.

This grinder lets you set your grind setting and then save the grind time once you know how much grind you want in your portafilter. So all someone has to do is to put a portafilter under the grind area and hit one of the saved buttons and it will auto dispense the correct amount of grind every time.

This way, our workers can get a consistent shot without doing anything.

If you are getting a good espresso Machine, spend the extra bucks on this grinder and you will not regret it.
