The LUCCA Atom 75 is the grinder that dials itself in. After three years of development with Eureka, LUCCA built a machine that collapses the most frustrating part of home espresso—the endless grind adjustments, the wasted beans, the guesswork—into a sixty-second process. TrueGrind technology analyzes your coffee and automatically adjusts the burr position to deliver repeatable, dialed-in shots from the first pull. All you have to do is turn the adjustment dial. This is a grinder for anyone who wants café-quality espresso without the café-level learning curve.

The LUCCA Atom 75 sits in the sweet spot where serious home baristas and small commercial users overlap. It's the grinder Clive's team uses daily at their Portland headquarters—not because it's flashy, but because it works. Every morning. Every origin. Every roast level. The combination of 75mm cryo-treated burrs, stepless adjustment, and programmable grind-by-time settings makes this one of the most versatile grinders under $1,500.

Key Features

  • TrueGrind Auto Dial-In: Proprietary technology that measures extraction and adjusts burr position automatically—get dialed shots in one minute instead of twenty
  • 75mm Cryo-Treated Burrs: Custom LUCCA alloy with higher chromium content than Eureka's Diamond Inside burrs, media-blasted and cryo-treated for extreme hardness and longevity
  • Stepless Micrometric Adjustment: Infinite grind settings between espresso and pour-over, no stepped limitations
  • Programmable Grind-By-Time: Save multiple recipes for different beans or brew methods—switch from a bright Ethiopian to a chocolatey Brazilian with one button press
  • Low-Retention Design: Minimal grind retention means you're not mixing yesterday's stale grounds into today's shot
  • Quiet Operation: Significantly quieter than most flat-burr grinders in this class—early morning shots won't wake the house
  • Commercial-Grade Build: All-metal construction, designed for the wear and tear of café use but sized for home countertops

Ideal For

Skill Level: Beginner to advanced. TrueGrind makes this accessible for first-time espresso drinkers, while stepless adjustment and programmable settings give experienced baristas the control they expect.

Use Case: Home baristas who want café-quality espresso without the guesswork. Small commercial setups (home offices, boutique cafés) where consistency matters more than extreme volume. Anyone who subscribes to a rotating coffee service and doesn't want to re-dial the grinder every time a new bag arrives.

Household Type: Two-to-four shots per day, multiple users with different taste preferences, or anyone who values their time more than they value the meditative ritual of manual grind adjustment. If you've ever wasted half a bag of beans trying to dial in a grinder, this is the machine that ends that cycle.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Don't take our word for it.

Customers praise this grinder for producing "fluffy" uniform grinds with exceptional speed (3 seconds for 19-20g) and quiet operation. The precise burr distance measurement enables easy switching between beans. However, TrueGrind recommendations often require adjustment, and some report minor grind spewing and app connectivity issues.

    • Grind is very uniform and fluffy. Consistent, quiet, fast, very easy to use.
    • Brings out the nuances of the bean resulting in a brighter more flavorful espresso.
    • Very fast grinding and very little retention. Best grinder I've ever used, worth the price!

    Love this grinder (with one

Love this grinder (with one caveat)!! The pluses: it’s quiet, grind measurements are accurate AF, and the burrs are a massive improvement over my Baratza Sette 270… so I’m calling this a win because your partner won’t know if you’re using the grinder while they’re sleeping in the morning (huge win!) The minuses/wishlist: the TrueGrind app is cool, but you’re pretty likely to find more coffee roasters that aren’t in Clive’s list of browsable beans. I love that you can add your own Coffee as a trade off to this… but Lucca/Clive - given the Atom can’t dose by weight - would you PLEASE consider adding the ability to save GRIND TIMES to these recipes so you can help me save the brain space required to know how many seconds it takes to grind an 18g dose based on whatever grind setting you’re using? ☕️⏲ Otherwise - Bravo! It’s worth it…

You CAN save grind times! We'll reach out directly to show you how. Glad you love everything else about it!!!

    Grind is very uniform and

Grind is very uniform and “fluffy”. Grind retention seems very low since the first shot is very good with only a quick purge. Consistent, quiet, fast, very easy to use. I did one profile in the app which pulled a perfect shot so haven’t explored further. I will dive in when my new espresso machine arrives. My beans are a bit sticky and I have tapped the hopper from time to time to get beans to fall.

    I want to love it

I want to love it entirely, however I find cause of its speed of grinding, it spews a little out, almost like the grinds are bouncing out due to the awesome speed and power of the motor. Aside from this it's amazing.

    I think the grinder is

I think the grinder is great, but the TrueGrind system has been off by quite a bit. It recommends, say, a setting of 52, but I have to adjust down to 38 to get the grind right for 20g in, 40g out in 30 secs. Otherwise great capabilities.

Absolutely loving my LUCCA Atom 75 so far. It produces a lot fluffier grinds with no clumps compared to my Mignon Libra and the app plus the grinders specific grind setting being on the display makes it extremely easy to use. Definitely recommend if you’re considering, the added touches from Clive (LUCCA) are definitely worth the relatively small price adjustment as well

    This grinder is awesome, quiet

This grinder is awesome, quiet and super fast producing a nice pile of fluffy grounds in about 3s. The burr distance sensor is very accurate, I've used this a couple of times to create a rough grind for cold brew and was able to dial it straight back to my previous espresso grind.| I tried the TrueGrind recommendations for a couple of Verve coffees (Seabright and Buena Vista) and found them to be quite far off (by around 3g on a 20g dose). Not a big deal since I change beans rarely but maybe worth considering if that's why you want to buy it. I haven't reached out to Clive about this so it could also be something I'm not doing correctly.

    The Grinder is amazing and

The Grinder is amazing and the support team at Clive is knowledgeable and responsive. I am a beginner so the grinder having the capability to dial in by itself is so helpful.

    This is the grinder!!

I’ve wasted literally 0 beans. I wish the app had more bean profiles / recipes, but overall a fantastic experience.

    This machine if awesome. Upgraded

This machine if awesome. Upgraded from the Atom 75 and this is a perfect addition to the atom 75 body. CLIVECOFFEE.COM really put a lot of work into this machine. Paired with mistobox dialing in has never been easier and wasted shots are a thing of the past. Customer service at CLIVECOFFEE.COM is far superior than any other company I have dealt with everyone there is very knowledgeable and willing to go that extra mile for their customers. Thanks again. This is an excellent espresso

This is an excellent espresso grinder that I wish I had pulled the trigger on sooner. I upgraded to this from a Mahlkönig X54. That was also a very good grinder, but I found it finicky to dial in and so I found I rarely wanted to try new coffees because of the time and effort required to get it right. True Grind isn't perfect but it gets you really close and usually extra adjustments are pretty minimal. It's also extremely fast—typically grinds 20 g in 3 seconds (comparatively it usually took the X54 around 12 seconds to do the same). Yes, this is an expensive grinder, but if you're even considering this one, I'd recommend saving up because I think it's worth it.

    Flavor Changing Experience!

I upgraded from a Compak e5 and can't believe the difference in my cup. The Atom 75 brings out the nuances of the bean resulting in a brighter more flavorful espresso. This puppy is quiet and fast, it grinds 19g in 3s which is twice as fast as the Compak.

I roast my own coffee and use the custom profile features of the true grind app so I can't speak to the commercial coffee profiles. For home roosters, you have the ability to use the app to create custom grind profiles starting with roast degree (color) which enables you to develop your own grind profiles for different beans and/or roast degree (e.g.Full City vs Full City+).

All around the best grinder that I have ever owned or used.

    I switched from a Mazzer

I switched from a Mazzer Mini to this Lucca because I needed more precise adjustment changes. My wife and I use different beans requiring different grinds. The Lucca allows you to program in the exact digital grind. It has not disappointed. Very fast grinding and very little retention. Best grinder I've ever used, worth the price!

Great Grinder but not sure about the True Grind

First the positives: Updating from a Baratza Sette to the Luca was a revelation, my espresso just got so much better and the grinder is so quick, consistent and quiet. The fineness dial and the digital readout of burr gap is outstanding, precise and very adjustable. You really can run this grinder while the wife sleeps! All together wonderful.

Now for the negatives: The big advertising push made on the site is that you can download grind guidelines for coffees that have been ‘calibrated’ on MistoBox or you can ‘store’ information on coffees you frequently use and have optimized grind settings. Theoretically this avoids wasting 5-10 pulls getting the grind size optimized. The reality is that there is sufficient variation with coffee freshness, background humidity and room temperature that you really cannot avoid the process of optimizing grind size and you also cannot keep it at that same grind over the 5 days or so that it takes to use up the bag of beans. The True Grind recommendation is really no better than having a sticky note with the ballpark grind setting that you have used before. Sure it is an electronic sticky note but I am not convinced it is the revolution that the advertisements promise. The ‘recipes’ that you can add for various drink types (Latte/cappucino etc.) are also only digital notes and have no influence whatsoever on how the grinder works.

But the grinder is indeed great, buy it because it grinds wonderfully and the digital burr gap measurement is fantastic. A 41 on the fineness scale always results in the same particle size. Just don’t buy this grinder because of the Internet of Things/Artificial intelligence TrueGrind promises that are made as they really don’t add much to the already great grinder.

Fantastic grinder, tech has room for improvement

I'm lowering my review to three stars; the grinder itself is fantastic - quality, quiet and very repeatable. I love using it every day.

Unfortunately, I can't say the same for the TrueGrind system. While the concept is great and I love the precise measurement of the burrs, the screen is buggy, often glitching out. The Clive team were extremely receptive to my feedback about the bugs, but I'd wondered why a fix never came which brings me to my second issue: the device does not support spaces in SSIDs, which means it cannot connect to many (including mine) WiFi networks. And third, having owned this grinder for only a year and a half, it's disheartening to see it's already been superseded and replaced -- it definitely does not inspire confidence on longevity and is concerning after having spent so much on a grinder.

In short, the Eureka Atom is fantastic and a great grinder to get. "Smartifying" it on the other hand, is probably best avoided.

    Exceptional Grinder

This grinder is very consistent and does not build up consequential heat during back-to-back espresso pulls. It is amazingly quiet and is the perfect companion for my new Lelit Bianca espresso machine.

    Fantastic Grinder

I've had a similar experience to the other reviewers; this grinder is well-made and fantastically consistent. I underestimated the value of the grinder's ability to accurately measure the distance between the burrs prior to buying it - and now I couldn't imagine living without it! I typically run three different coffees at any one time (two caff, one decaf), and being able to consistently set the burrs to the right point each time I switch is amazing: no lost coffee. It's also very good at single-dosing, further reinforcing this value. I also wish the mobile companion app was more featured, but would buy another one of these grinders in a heartbeat... it's well worth the extra dollars.

Great for home baristas. Can only get better

I've had this grinder for about a month now, and the grind and build quality of this machine is top notch. Very quiet machine that is very consistent. Consistency is something i had a problem with my previous two Baratzas, this works exactly as you would expect.

The app itself, is functional, but still feels very early on. Im not sure what the build / release schedule (if any) are planned for future developments, but I am excited to see the possibilities. I agree with the previous comment, the library is small. I hope to see if grow in the future.

Lastly, as it relates to the smart features of the app. I found that 2 of 3 bags of Onyx that ive ran through the grinder, with the recommended grind settings were slightly off by a few "clicks". While it would've been nice to hit perfect shots every time, It does get you within the ballpark of where you should be. This is particularly useful for home baristas that dont have the luxury of wasting multiple shots trying to dial in.

All said and done, I am very happy with my purchase. With it being only ~100 dollars or so more than its Eureka 65 counterpart, It is definitely worth while to consider

5 stars with one minor caveat......

Overall, this grinder is amazing. The Lucca Atom 65 runs extremely quiet and has very consistent and non-clumping grinds. We alternate between 3 beans at our home station, 1 medium roast and 2 full city + dark roasts. Being able to profile each bean as we alternate is a great feature, as minor details can greatly enhance or hinder the extraction. Beyond the preciseness, it along with the Saint Anthony tamp have taken enough variables out of the equation to where other household members are able to pull quality shots from our machine using non-pressurized baskets.

I did mention one minor caveat.... The software is still fairly new and what I would consider beta+. It is intuitive enough to get the job done, however saving profiles to the machine often takes multiple syncs even when in range. This is not a big deal at our house as there is only a need for 3 profiles and those stay static, but if you try many varieties of beans and change out often, this may be a concern until a few releases of the software and firmware will surely remedy the issue. The library is also very small, however, I think making and dialing in your own profiles is the way to go, as everyone's flavor profile is unique.

Overall, the grinder is an amazing addition to our coffee station and I look forward to working with it for many years to come. Other than maturity to the software(that takes time), this is an amazing enhancement to the Eureka line to satisfy the coffee perfectionist as well as the novice.
