The Weber Workshops Unibasket redefines what a portafilter basket can do. Standard 58mm baskets use only 48mm of their surface area, leaving flavor potential untapped. The Unibasket delivers true 58mm end-to-end extraction, utilizing the full diameter to maximize contact between water and coffee for more complete, even flavor development.

Key Features

  • Full 58mm extraction surface: no wasted space, no flavor left behind
  • 1.2mm thick stainless steel construction: single-piece design stabilizes the puck during extraction
  • Reduces channeling and cracking: robust walls help maintain puck integrity under pressure
  • Designed for Weber BUCK portafilter: perfect fit, but compatible with many standard 58mm portafilters (check compatibility details)

The Unibasket is a precision tool for espresso enthusiasts who want to extract every nuance from their coffee. At Clive, we support your espresso journey with expert advice, free shipping, and the education to make every upgrade count.

Not using basket

Not using basket, have problems with finding grind size with too fast flow. Equipment used ECM Synchronika, self tamping tool, scale, Mignon single dose grinder, filter paper and screen.

Totally different than what you are used to

It is definitely solid and fits the Buck portafilter tightly. That solidity seems to lend itself to additional stability and repeatability, both of which are helpful.
That said, the wide, solid base means that coffee no longer wants to coalesce into a central stream. instead, you get several smaller streams across the bottom of the portafilter. This is true with or without the screen and paper filter. While it might mean more even extraction (I have no way to test this), it also means you cannot brew into an espresso cup. I have close to a dozen of different sizes and none are wide enough to capture all of the coffee streams (see image). Not a huge deal, I suppose, as I do have some smaller, 4-oz coffee cups that work, but also a little annoying. It also seems to mean faster extraction. Dialing in has been a challenge, though I am acclimating and have made some good coffee.
Oh, and the straight walls make knocking the puck out notably more difficult. Overall, I think I would have preferred a different premium basket.

Build quality is amazing but the matte finish on the outside comes off.

It is hard to clean but I expected it. It is also very unforgiving when your grind is not on point.

I have had a Profitec

I have had a Profitec pro 600 and DF 83 grinder for five months and use a bottomless portafilter. Love them but channeling to greater and lesser degrees has always been a problem. I have watched all the videos and tried everything to no avail. This basket was the answer. For the two weeks I have used it I have not seen the tiny spray of coffee from my portafilter and when I wipe down my machine I get nothing. Haven’t used a paper filter yet. That is next (baby steps).
