My portafilter is too big for my Brewister scale, so this handy plate fixed the issue. Pity it's not cheaper!!!

Not really needed

The portafilter will rest on the scale without this plate, so it's not really needed and kinda gets in the way. The plate might come in handy to hold multiple glasses when pulling shots, but I haven't had a need to try that yet. I'd skip it next time.

This plate is really needed to properly weight a portafilter. It’s magnetic and works beautifully with the Lunar scale. Looks great too.

Ridiculously expensive for what it is

I used it one time to weigh my Porta filter, and wouldn’t you know it slid off when I wasn’t looking (and coffee went all over the carpet). In my experience its about the same difficulty level to balance the Porta filter on this expensive plate, as it is to balance the Porta filter over the scale without the plate (either way it may slide off). I sometimes use this plate over the scale because it’s a little easier to wipe off then the scale.

Bought this because I thought

Bought this because I thought I needed it. Haven’t used it once. Feels nice and fits a portafilter as designed. I just haven’t felt the need to do that yet as I grind straight to portafilter and my grinder’s retention is very low.

Acaia weighing plate

I use it on the Brewista II scale. It fits well and provides a stable platform for weighing portafilter or 2 demitasse or shot glasses. Only issue is like all Acaia products is overpriced.

Nice essential when using my Lunar for non-espresso needs

Because I mostly single dose, I rarely need this for espresso brewing, but since I also do a lot of pour over brewing this really comes in handy. For example when doing a Chemex brew this allows me to still use my Lunar whenever my brew method has a much larger footprint that would normally call for a larger scale. Also, , this plate is magnetized and stays easily out of the way magnetized to the side of my Silvia when not in use, which of course is awesome.
