ECM Tamper Station

Cleans up my prep area with no rubber matt needed. Helps standardize my tamps as well as there is no movement of the portafilter. With a funnel in place, two taps into the station eliminates ground spillage. Not a necessity but just one more step in getting close to espresso perfection. Just looks neat, too.

Didn't even know these existed until recently, but what a great invention! Can't really imagine trying to tamp a spouted portafilter without one now. Plus I've really been enjoying telling friends who've never seen one that it's an ECM marshmallow dispenser.

A must have for anyone

I have to say, I was skeptical this would make much of a difference in my set up. But it really does add stability when I am prepping my shots. And doing so, it helps when I am using my distributor and tamping down the shot. Before using this my grounds were taking longer to pull the shots and they were wet when completed. Now the shots are taking a shorter time and they are dry after I pull the shots. I will say I did just clean my grinder thoroughly and adjusted that. That may be part of it as well. But the ECM Tamper station really does add stability to my prep and my kitchen is cleaner because I am using it.

Perfect for holding single and double portafilters for tamping. Great construction and quality.

It’s shiny! I like that I’m assured that the filter basket is level when I tamp. The basket is also held securely during tamping. It’s not essential, but it’s nice to have a tool that makes the daily coffee job just a little easier.

It seemed extravagant at the time, but I‘m very happy to have my shiny ECM tamper station. It is very solid and stable. It‘s easy to store my portafilter there. It is definitely helping me produce properly leveled shots. I think I‘m going to start using it with my kitchen scale since it is a bit tough to rest a full portafilter on an average size digital scale.

The ECM is an attractive compact storage station for ones tamper and stable a platform for tamping, almost no cleanup, really.

This is a very well engineered piece, right down to the anti slip O-ring on the bottom. Love it.

Works fine. Easy to keep clean. Will probably outlast all of my other Espresso gear - solid build and very stable.

Hopefully it's better paired with an ECM portafilter. Overall it's a very well finished piece, but it doesn't hold my Lelit Victoria's portafilter level due to the angle of the handle and locking lugs. Honestly I would have returned it for that reason but It's aluminum and pretty soft material so it got marred in several spots after the first day. I was upset about that but then realized if it wasn't softer than the portafilter it would have damaged that instead.

It doesn’t keep the portafilter level

Nice tool Built quality - not so good: bottom rubber ring keeps detaching and falls off. The tamper “ wings” that lay on the ECM created scratches on the contact area with the ECM with every day’s use- expected a more durable / industrial quality. Overall Ok work station, definitely overpriced!

Great for dialing in your tamps

This tool does exactly what I expected, very stable for tamping my single spout portafilter. Looks just as good IRL. My only complaint is that the bottom gasket likes to stick to my countertop instead of the tamper station.

Yes, it’s expensive, but it fits the ECM portafilters perfectly and holds them rock solid for tamping. An absolute must for the single spout portafilter and a nice upgrade for the double.

Would like to have had another piece of rubber along U shaped cutout. Too much wiggle room and it’s scratching portafilter handle. Have to rely on flat wings for true level tamp.

The wings of my La Spaziale bottomless portafilter are about 2mm too short to sit flat on the rubber ring. As aresult its easy to tamper the coffee slightly crooked, even if I use a leveller.

For $60, I thought I'd get a solid, heavy tamper station made from Stainless Steel, but it's made from Aluminum. The carton that the tamper station came in says it's made from Polished Aluminum.

Additionally, the description says that it fits any ECM portafilter like a glove. With the internal O-ring, I got the impression that the ECM portafilter would be snuggly held in place. No, the portafilter loosely sits in place.

I love the way it looks! fits in with my ECM gear nicely. But sorely disappointed as it's totally misrepresented! Don't want to return it because it is cosmetically appealing and it will do it's job. I'm just shocked that it's not up to ECM's standards (I have a ECM espresso machine and grinder). Actually more upset that it doesn't grab the portafilter than the wrong material.
