Customers praised this precision espresso scale for its accuracy, compact thin design, and simple interface. Many appreciated the physical on/off switch, rechargeable battery, and bright easy-to-read display. However, some noted concerns about pricing compared to similar models and slower response time than competitors.

  • Works flawlessly, aesthetically beautiful. Don't know why I waited so long!
  • The best coffee scale under $100. Surprisingly fully charged. The heft is impressive!
  • I like it better than my $250 Acaia Lunar scale. Simple interface, no firmware updates!

Great little scale that has addresses some of the issue I had with a similar one from another known brand. Really enjoy the ON/OFF physical switch and overall interface. I got the white one and they numbers are still very visible. Overall happy with the purchase.

Rebranded Maestri $33 scale, marked up to $70

Look up the Maestri House Mini Coffee Scale on Amazon, it’s the same scale for $33. I’m guessing there’s dozens of versions of essentially the same scale, with a different paint job, for sale online for $20-$30.

For me it is a 5-star simplified scale to use with my Lucca espresso machine, which has a P. I. D. which works as auto timer. I do not need the auto-sense & tare functions. People whose machines don't time shots, might want a more automated model. For me, it is perfect.

Great espresso scale

What a nice little scale at a reasonable price. Accurate and repeatable. Plenty thin to fit on a Rocket with a latte cup and portafilter. I wish it would respond more quickly - it's hard to tell if it didn't register the finger press because there is a 1-2 second delay. But you get used to it, and the touch display is very good. And last it would be nice if the instructions told you how to change the units displayed, but you can Google to find that.

Wonderful, simple espresso scale

My first espresso scale and it seems to work beautifully! I like the small size. Feels well built (hefty in a good way), and I appreciate the physical on/off switch and the auto-off. Zero's out quickly and seems very accurate. I also have no worries about it getting wet when using it for espresso shots. Great value!

The perfect scale for any

The perfect scale for any type of coffee making. I use it with my moccamaster to weigh water, weigh grounds, and time agitating the grounds in the basket. Simple, accurate, and just perfect including easy recharging. Finally excellent price for the high quality

Exactly what we were looking

Exactly what we were looking for! It’s simple, intuitive, and gives you the two pieces of info you need. Plus it’s a thinner profile so it fits more easily even using a taller cup. We had an acacia before and I love this so much more. Plus it’s even a better price!

Compact, Sleek and Effective

I’m really impressed with this scale. It’s well-built, responsive and compact. I previously owned the Timemore Black Mirror and it felt very cheap (ie very plasticky). This one is more durable and feels premium. A couple minor flaws, though: one the rubber mat is not gripped (like an Acaia Peal). This means the mat slides around which can be a little frustrating. Two, the manual doesn’t tell you how to switch measurement scales. I accidentally ended up in Ounces and had to find a Seattle Coffee Gear review to figure out how to change it back to ml/g. You hit the Timer button quickly three times. All and all, an excellent scale but Clive/Lucca needs to update the manual with how to change measurements, and a gripped rubber mat would be a great future enhancement.

I'd never used a scale

I'd never used a scale before--bought this based on well-founded advice that scales are important. Using the scale for a week convinced me weighing the grind is SO important that I got a new weight-based grinder, which ironically eliminated half my need for the scale. But I still need it for the other half of the equation--weighing the liquid output.

Once while wiping it clean I somehow changed its readout from grams to ounces. I found nothing in the manual about that (which I'd never read before because the scale was so simple and intuitive I hadn't bothered). I also found nothing online, but I was able to switch it back by randomly poking its buttons in various orders and combinations. But it still deserves five stars.

Nails the basics

FINALLY a scale that nails the basics: small footprint to fit easily on my drip trays; excellent look, heft, and feel; no bluetooth/app nonsense; incredibly simple and straightforward use.

I thought about taking a star away because it's noticeably slower to register weight changes than my old Timemore Basic 2. 0, but the readings end up being more stable and consistent, so it's kind of a wash from a user experience standpoint.

I can't comment on the automatic shot timer; I use my machine's built in timer.

Chef's kiss!

So great. I like it better than my $250 Acaia Lunar scale, which I used for five years prior. The Acaia is nice but unless you need half a dozen different very specific modes, it's overkill and high-maintenance. I suspect most people are like me and just need an accurate shot scale (and timer if your machine doesn't have one). That is exactly what the Lucca scale provides. The Lucca scale is superior:
> It's thicker with a top plate edge so you can grasp it better. The Acaia is thin and heavy, and it must have slipped out of my hand and hit the floor about 100 times. Every time it dents/bends in the metal sides (usually hits at the corners), which requires one to tap the metal so it bends somewhat back into place. Trust me, this is really easy to do in the morning when you're waking up, multitasking, etc. Then you have to stop everything to deal with your newly bent metal edge that can touch the weighing mechanism. Plus, nobody wants their nice gear needlessly banged up.
> It's simple. Unless you need a bunch of very specific shot measuring settings (I'm curious to know who actually does), the Lucca nails it with the simple interface. No more having to toggle through unneeded various settings when you accidentally touch the scale wrong, and no more firmware updates. Just turn on the Lucca and go.
> It has grippers on the bottom so it doesn't slide around. Not as critical but a nice touch that you instantly appreciate when you compare the two models.
> Fraction of the price. Mic drop.

I am grateful for the years of service I got from the Acaia Lunar, but I am oh so happy that I moved on to this scale. I should be their spokesperson.

Excellent scale with easy-to-read readout.

Excellent scale with easy-to-read readout. My only criticism is that it is a bit small to handle the weighing of a portafilter. It'll fit, but just barely. The scale is also difficult to read when used to weigh espresso output from the machine.

The best coffee scale under $100

The unboxing experience was great. There were no frills or a simple manual, and the scale was surprisingly fully charged. The heft of the scale is impressive, making it feel more premium than the price tag (which at $65 is amazing). The simplicity is also a HUGE plus for me. There's only one mode, and there is no app. In a world where everything comes with an app, this is a breath of fresh air. The LUCCA Precision Scale is responsive yet not finicky, and you don't have to cycle through six different modes to get back to the one you want to use, like on the Acaia Lunar scale ($250).

A few things that surprised me:

1. There are 2 thick rubber pads on the bottom that prevent the scale from moving around on your drip tray & counter.
2. The scale's side has a rubber charging port cover that prevents water from getting in. This is a seriously nice touch.
3. The brightness of the display & and the battery level indicators are a welcome touch.
