Seems to be working. Taste has not changed which is not a bad thing.

Before using this, my water hardness was at 250 ppm. After filtering my water and adding this water softening pouch, I was still at 250 ppm despite several weeks of use. Hard water is common in Southern California but this softening pouch made zero change in the hardness of my water. I ended up buying a water softening system since this method was ineffective.

I tested my water after both filtering and adding this softening pouch, and it's still reading really hard. Sam says this happens and not to worry, but I'm wondering what else is wrong with my water!!!

This is the ultimate luxury for water softening. Drop it into your water tank and enjoy the best coffee for the next few months. I replaced mine every 3 months but your milage might vary depending on your water condition.

Pouches work well but was disappointed on my last order of them as one of the two was not sealed proper and had the granular contents all over. Looks like the bags are heat sealed and the seal was off a little. Not clives fault so did not bother chasing for a replacement.

The easiest way to soften the water without any hard-to-maintain apparatus that most softeners end up being. Cheap enough, too!

Great for several months of soft water to your machine. A real savior to its longevity. Don't go with out it.

Where I live we have extremely hard water. The Oscar pouch is an absolute necessity!

Frankly, using my TDS meter purchased at Clivecoffee.com, there's no measurable difference in the water pre-treated by Oscar and post treatment by Oscar.

When we got our machine a year ago, our water tested around 120 PPM on the test strips Clive included with the machine. After getting the Oscar pouch, we're right in the 50 range. We go through a decent amount of water and refill the 3 liter reservoir at least twice a week. At that rate, the pouch seems to last 3-4 months. I've been replacing it every three months since they're priced so reasonably.

I really don't think I need these pouches as I use bottled spring water and I think it is pretty balanced. But I don't want to have to think about it at all and by using these, I don't have to worry about it at all.

Bought this from a competitor but wanted to share review here as well. Installed pouch in reservoir with a TDS reading of 147. Waiting 24 hours and now the TDS reading is 178 so it appears that this does the exact opposite of what it claims to do and made my water harder.

This is the simplest solution I have found to have plenty of "coffee water" on hand. I live in a hard water area and cleaning up the scale it leaves behind is tedious. This little pouch allows me to have 2 gallons ready all the time!
