Not sure that it really makes a noticeable difference especially if one giggles/shakes the portafilter, smooths the top of the ground coffee, and tamps appropriately. But, it’s a nice play toy.

This tool works great. Albeit over-priced, it's hard to find a decent WDT for under $40. I figured I may as well spend the extra $10 and get something that has good reviews. Having said that, I'm very happy with the quality of this tool.

Wow!!

I got this for my coffee-aficionado husband for Christmas and he still raves about it everyday as he pulls his espressos: "This works so well -- better than any other tool I've had" "This is reason my pulls are so consistent and great now". And the attention to detail is above and beyond -- there's a magnet on the base that attaches to (certain) parts of the espresso machine for a more tidy look. This tool is Da Bomb! The best!

I really like the tool.

I really like the tool. Seemed a bit Pricey for what it is but it allows me to move the coffee bed around a little more precisely before tamping. The overall quality is impressive and after using it I think it is worth the investment. Since I use it during prep now I went ahead and ordered the base from sworks.

It really is a must have tool

This WDT tool really did improve the consistency of my shots. It’s expensive, but it’s very nice quality and won’t poke you or tear a paper filter. Would 100% recommend it to those looking to improve their espresso.

A must have tool for avoiding channeling and inconsistent shots. Only caveat is to order the .3 or .35 needles from the site directly as the tool comes with thinner needles that still help with distribution but also bend to the lightest pressure
