Triple Double is a collaboration coffee from Portrait Coffee and Unblended Coffee that does exactly what its name promises: triple the flavor intensity, double the impact. Sourced from the high-altitude Andes region of Antioquia, Colombia, this natural process lot comes from small producers working between 1,800 and 2,000 meters above sea level—Castillo, Colombia, and Caturra varietals that thrive in these cool, oxygen-thin conditions.
This coffee exists as part of Unblended's Development Lot program, a risk-sharing model that gives young producers a stable market while they refine their processing and cultivation techniques. Portrait roasts it to showcase the work these farmers are doing, and the result is a cup that tells a story of collaboration across continents.
Tasting Notes
Expect bright, candy-like fruit: strawberry jam sweetness up front, tart cherry acidity in the middle, and a lime zest brightness that keeps the finish lively. The natural processing amplifies the fruit-forward character—think less "coffee with fruit notes" and more "fruit with coffee structure." Medium body, juicy mouthfeel, and a clean aftertaste that invites another sip. This is a coffee that tastes like summer, even in January.
Brew Methods
Triple Double shines brightest in methods that let its fruit complexity unfold. Pour over (V60, Chemex) gives you clarity and separation between those strawberry and lime notes. As espresso, it's bold and syrupy—pull it slightly longer (1:2.5 ratio) to tame the acidity and bring out the berry sweetness. French press works beautifully if you want a heavier, more concentrated version of those fruit flavors. Cold brew turns it into strawberry limeade. Avoid super-fine Turkish grind; this coffee wants room to express itself.
