Looking to get more sweetness and depth from your espresso? VST Precision Baskets offer improved consistency and extraction due to their uniquely rigorous design and manufacturing process. Available in 20g baskets for your 58mm bottomless portafilters. 

Unlike many others, VST baskets have holes across the basket's entire bottom surface, allowing water to flow evenly through the entire bed of coffee. The precision-cut holes help reduce obstructions during extraction, greatly reducing channeling - making for a more reliable and less messy experience.

Every basket is micro-machined and carefully inspected during finishing. All the holes are uniform in size and distribution. Ridged baskets have a ridge near the top of the basket which keeps the basket more firmly locked into your portafilter – some choose ridgeless to ensure the most even possible flow. VST produces the best portafilter

VST produces the best portafilter baskets and I get a consistent shot from my machine mainly due to the quality of the portafilter insert. I love the insert in the box with the insert as it shows a graph of the consistency in the holes, bringing a smooth taste to my pulled shots at home.

I just had the best cup of my life. When the recipe is right, it extracts nuanced flavor I hadn't noticed before. It requires a coarser grind. I use a puck screen on top as well as a paper filter at the bottom of the basket.

Seems like a good insert

Seems like a good insert in theory. I had to change my grind setting using it so it has taken me a bit to dial it in. So many variables that its hard to tell sometimes if it is just the coffee or someother factor that I have added or taken off. I am using it on a P. drive machine with a DF64 grinder, so I feel like I already have fantastic coffee and I believe that this filter probably added to it.

I bought this to replace the basket that came with my bottomless portafilter for my Luca M58. The basket that comes with the machine is poorly made with inconsistent machining. The VST as a replacement is a perfect fit and far exceeds the quality of the stock basket. This is a must buy if you like using a bottomless with your M58.

Tricky but good

A bit harder to get tuned in than other baskets I've owned, but once it is dialed in it provides really consistent and delicious espresso. I went with the ridgeless and it stays in to the portafilter with no problem. It fits a 58.55mm tamper perfectly.

If you’re committed to getting a good shot of espresso (hint: if you’re going through the trouble of reading basket reviews, then you probably are) then get this basket for your portafilter. There are so many variables that go into the outcome of your shot. This filter helps narrow unwanted variables created by inconsistent holes in the basket that your eyes cannot see. Get this basket and put yourself in a position for more control and more consistent shots of espresso.

Worth the cost. My shots are very consistent now. This along with WDT and I have picture perfect extractions out of a bottomless portafilter. I would figure this cost into any espresso machine you get.
