I feel the tamp doesn’t go deep enough into the basket, even when extended out all the way

Excellent quality tool. Perfect tamp every time.

I find, as others have, that the diameter of the tamp is a full 1.2mm smaller than the advertised 58.3mm. (Which is already smaller than the 58.55mm diameter of many other 58+mm tamps).

The small diameter leaves a ring of loose coffee grinds around the outer edge of VST and IMS baskets, which Clive recommend. It’s messy and leaves the puck prone to channeling on the edges. Disappointing, heck unacceptable, for such an expensive tool.

It takes some getting used to the adjustment, but overall it’s a very well made piece of equipment. It’s a little on the spendy side, but it’s extremely well made and should last a very long time.

The fact I no longer have to look at how level my tamp is from various directions is worth the purchase alone. Guarantees perfectly level and equally tamped pucks each time, it's all you could ever want from consistency perspective. It's also built like a tank and the adjustment mechanism is as smooth as butter, great craftsmanship all around.

This tool makes tamping one less thing to worry about for my morning coffee - set and forget. I can't recommend enough.

The LevyTamp (accompanied by the St.Anthony Industries Distribution Tool) has made my shot making process consistent, and easy, and has also improved the drinking quality of the shots produced. It is now so much easier to isolate the grind numbers to bring in a shot that meets both the weight and time standards. Great idea!

It is expensive IMO but takes guesswork out of how much pressure to tap- I use distributor tool too. Now my tamps are consistent

Best tamper I've ever used. Easily adjustable to how deep you want to damp and most importantly, it won't let you tamp unevenly. Easy to go between different tamper depths as it is clearly labeled. Really helps with shot consistency. Glad I bought this tool!

If you're looking to make consistently delicious espresso, this and the distributor are essential. Tamping is one of the biggest inconsistencies when making an espresso and this eliminates that issue. Not only is it useful, it looks amazing next to my machine. And now I can use my bottomless portafilter without wearing my espresso!

This tamper really took my espresso to the next level. I was getting some channeling with my traditional tamper and the consistency I’m able to achieve with the st Anthony has totally eliminated that. I highly recommend this tanker to anyone looking to improve the consistency of their shots.

These look very nice and I will keep them. I love how they have etched in numbers so that I can always go back to my original (or any) setting. Like any button tamper, this is easy to palm press down. Adjustment is OK. I've found that the bottom cylinder can still move slightly even when "locked", even when I'm cleaning the unit by gently rubbing it clockwise (or counter-clockwise) with a microfiber towel. Get the dial-in service and leave the settings there while you experiment with other factors in the espresso making process. Also, write down your settings before you change them. Build quality is very nice - no question these will last a very long time. I got the walnut tops and they look great with the walnut accents on my Profitec Pro 800.

The tamp does not secure in a level state, making the device 100% useless. I have reached out to Clive and even sent a picture of the defect with absolutely no response. Extremely disappointed, especially with the lack of response from Clive.

I never knew how much we needed this until we bought it and used it. It tamps perfectly every time to help create the perfect pressure for our machine. Not to mention its absolutely beautiful. Worth the upgrade from a normal tamper

Great tool to add consistency to your shots.

The craftsmanship is terrible especially considering the staggering price for what it is. The wooden top came off - was only attached with a spot of glue and the mechanism the locks the height adjustment failed. The one star because it does excel at being a paperweight.

i have the tamper and wedge. the wood tops of both came off. SAI will not replace them and said they are not suitable for tropical climate. Very disappointing at this price.

I ordered as set of these walnut topped distribution and tamper tools in 2019. I feel the tools themselves are good. Unfortunately both tops, which are a thin slice of wood, have come off the tools. I have not gotten them wet or dropped them, but I have wiped with a damp cloth on occasion after a splash during pulling a shot got on them (using a bottomless portafilter has its challenges and I'm no barista). I do live in an extremely dry climate. They look to have been applied with cyanoacrylate glue (superglue). For attaching materials that move at different rates like wood and metal, an adhesive that accounts for changes in size due to temperature and humidity seems like it would have been a better choice. I just cleaned the recess, removed the glue crust on the wood with a sanding block and used a food grade silicone caulk to glue them back in. That seems to be holding up.

The New Levy Tamp generates a clean, level, consistent tamp every time. I love that it is adjustable with numbers to guide you for depth. The quality is superb and is indicated by its hefty weight and beautiful wood grain. It is truly a beautiful and essential addition to my espresso set up.
