Bizarro is Cirque Coffee Roasters' answer to the dark side—a Guatemala espresso roast that splits the difference between jammy natural process fruit and clean washed coffee structure. Half the blend showcases Guatemala's bright, syrupy natural processing; the other half brings balance with traditional washed beans. Roasted darker than its sibling blend Weirdo, Bizarro leans into toasted chocolate, fig jam, and a whisper of hazelnut that holds up beautifully under pressure.
Tasting Notes
Expect a jammy sweetness upfront—think blackberry preserves and dark cherry—followed by bittersweet chocolate and toasted almond on the mid-palate. The body is syrupy and full, with low acidity that won't punch through milk but provides enough structure to keep straight espresso interesting. The finish is clean with lingering cocoa and a touch of brown sugar. This is an espresso that rewards attention: pull it short for concentrated jam intensity, or stretch it into a lungo for more chocolate and nut complexity.
Brew Methods
Bizarro shines brightest as espresso—it was roasted with the boiler in mind. The darker roast development means it's forgiving across a range of brew ratios and temperatures, making it ideal for home baristas dialing in. It's stunning in milk drinks: the chocolate base supports cappuccinos and flat whites without getting lost, while the fruit notes add dimension. In a pinch, it also works as a rich, full-bodied pour-over or French press, though you'll lose some of the jammy top notes that espresso pressure coaxes out.
