Need to Know

The ECM Classika PID with Flow Control is a German-built, single-boiler espresso machine that pairs the time-tested E61 group head with a pre-installed flow control device and PID temperature management, all for under $2,000. It's a Clive Coffee exclusive configuration, purpose-built for the home barista who cares more about what's in the cup than what's on the spec sheet. If your daily ritual revolves around dialing in espresso, pulling shots that reveal origin character, and occasionally steaming milk for a cappuccino, this machine was designed for exactly that.

Key Features

  • E61 Group Head: Delivering exceptional thermal stability shot after shot
  • PID Temperature Control: Digital precision lets you adjust brew temperature by the degree, giving you repeatable results and the ability to fine-tune extraction for light, medium, or dark roasts.
  • Pre-Installed Flow Control Device: A simple paddle on the group head lets you manipulate brew pressure in real time. Profile your shots to unlock sweetness, reduce channeling, and explore what your beans are truly capable of.
  • Built-In Shot Timer
  • Spring-Loaded Quick Steam Valve: Faster, more responsive steam delivery than standard valves, giving you finer control when texturing milk for microfoam
  • Fast Heat-Up Mode: Ready to pull shots in under ten minutes, a meaningful improvement for a machine in the E61 class
  • Single Boiler Design: Fewer components mean fewer failure points. This is a machine built to be serviced and enjoyed for decades, not replaced in five years
  • Reservoir-Only Water Supply: No plumbing required

Ideal For

The Classika PID with Flow Control is built for the intermediate home barista who has outgrown entry-level equipment and wants a machine that rewards skill without unnecessary complexity. It's ideal for espresso-focused households; people who drink straight shots, Americanos, or the occasional milk drink, and who want to explore pressure profiling without jumping to a dual boiler or plumbed setup. If you value craft over convenience features and want one of the best espresso machines under $2,000 that you can grow with for years, this is the one.

I absolutely love my Classika

I absolutely love my Classika with PID and flow control! It has everything I was looking for in an espresso machine, and I couldn't be happier. I go to sleep at night looking forward to my morning espresso. Clive's offer, warranty and service have been fantastic. I would highly recommend this machine and Clive. One small problem I had that someone using this machine should be aware of: follow the instructions on how to bring the machine back to brew mode after using the steam, and never turn off the machine while it's in steam mode. This will ruin a gasket and disable use of steam arm. The gasket is inexpensive and easy to replace, but it was a disappointment to have steam out of service on my brand new machine for even a few days. Aside from that small problem, I've been enjoying making the best espresso I've ever had; the Classika is a joy to use and I expect it to become an heirloom that I pass to my children.

Terrific machine. Great performer, beautiful looks, and top of the line build quality. I’m an espresso enthusiast and don’t do milk drinks, but still want the ability to make them if desired. This machine is a perfect fit for me.

I’ve had this machine for

I’ve had this machine for four months now and absolutely love it! My previous machine was a Quickmill Alexia single boiler and this one is way better designed and has so many more features. I love the quick warm up, eco mode, the timer on the pid display, the flow control, and the reservoir design. This is the perfect single boiler machine!

This machine produces very consistent

This machine produces very consistent shots! I can pull shots at 9 bars every time …especially with the Flow Control. Once you get your grind and tamp dialed in, this machine will not disappoint. Remember this is not a “push button,” automatic machine…if you enjoy the “process” of creating a great shot, you will love it! Also, don’t forget how amazing it looks!!! 😀

This was my first espresso

This was my first espresso machine - I had zero knowledge when I started shopping. It took me approx 6 weeks of research to decide. I’m extremely happy with my choice of Classika and Clive Coffee. ECM is very impressive quality and Clive has been there to support my concerns and questions both before and after purchase. I drink Americanos daily - so a single boiler was all I needed. Heat up is fast - smart plug has worked great for me to have no waiting on machine in mornings. Classika makes incredible espresso - I love the paddle flow control and joysticks on the Clive model. Classika makes powerful dry steam after suggested purges - but I wouldn’t love my machine so much if I made milk drinks daily - I’d prob get a double boiler. But, no complaints from me re: ECM Classika or Clive Coffee. Will buy from Clive again.

Incredible so far. Bought it

Incredible so far. Bought it because it lets me control and play with every aspect of the brew. The PID seems to heat 1 degree higher than I set when I set a temp in the 90s, but it makes little difference. Love this thing

Great for a first espresso

Great for a first espresso machine for someone interested in just making espresso. Not good for milk steaming because it is a single boiler and you have to wait, etc. But I am very happy with the ECM. Small, but feels like a “real espresso machine”.

BUILT LIKE A TANK

Replaced my Gaggia Classic Pro with this machine and it's like dying and going to heaven. The PID makes temperature control very precise, and the Flow Control facilitates pre-infusion.
