Need to Know

The Lelit Elizabeth is an Italian-engineered dual-boiler espresso machine that delivers café-level performance in a footprint that most competitors can't match. Built with a saturated group head, PID temperature control, programmable shot buttons, and an integrated shot timer, it's designed for the home barista who refuses to compromise on shot quality or steaming power. At under $1800, it's one of the most capable machines in its class, and one of the few that doesn't force you to choose between thermal stability and counter space.

What sets the Elizabeth apart is its 2-bar steam pressure. That's the kind of power you'd expect from a commercial machine, not a home unit running on a reservoir. It means faster milk texturing, yes,  but more importantly, it means microfoam with the silky, paint-like consistency that defines a properly crafted cappuccino. Combine that with simultaneous brewing and steaming courtesy of independent boilers, and you've got a machine that keeps pace with your morning routine instead of slowing it down.

Key Features

  • Dual boiler system: Brew and steam simultaneously without thermal compromise
  • PID temperature control: Dial in and hold your exact brew temp, shot after shot
  • 2-bar steam pressure: Commercial-grade microfoam from a home machine
  • Programmable pre-infusion: Gentle saturation powered by steam boiler pressure
  • Programmable shot buttons: Programmable by time.
  • Built-in shot timer: Track extraction time without a separate stopwatch
  • Saturated group head: Thermal mass for consistent extraction across back-to-back shots
  • Precision portafilter baskets: Lelit's baskets are machined more tightly than most stock options
  • Mixing valve for hot water: Adjustable temp for Americanos or tea
  • Compact design: Dual boiler power without the commercial footprint

Ideal For

The Elizabeth is built for the intermediate home barista who's ready to graduate from a single boiler but doesn't have the counter space or budget for a prosumer giant. It's ideal for households where multiple people drink milk-based espresso drinks, cappuccinos, flat whites, lattes, and waiting five minutes between shots isn't acceptable. If you value workflow efficiency, thermal consistency, and the ability to steam like a professional without spending like one, the Elizabeth is one of the smartest investments under $2000. It's also an excellent fit for anyone upgrading from a Gaggia Classic or a Breville Barista Express who wants to keep the same footprint while unlocking true dual-boiler capability.

Frequently Asked Questions

Reviews

Dual boiler machine praised for "fantastic cappuccinos" & "incredible" steaming power despite compact size. Customers said it delivers cafe-quality espresso with programmable features, quick heat-up, & easy cleaning. Concerns: some reliability issues with valves/sensors after 6-12 months, cheap plastic steam knob, & small water reservoir requiring frequent filling.

Perfect home machine

Really wonderful machine. It has small boilers which ends up being a plus for home use because of the quick heat time and the steaming pressure is perfect. I’ve been super stoked on this!

I is a far cry better then my previous espresso machine and more capable than I am in my espresso journey. It is making fantastic cappuccinos and the power of the duel boiler is incredible! Very happy with this machine and look forward to years of use as it teaches me how to master this craft.

Recommend water tank you can see

After owning the Elizabeth for 2. 5 years and using it almost daily, I recommend buying a machine where you can see the water tank and the level of the water. Pay the extra money for a Profitec, because it’s worth it, in my opinion, for long term use. My machine has been good. I’ve had to replace the pump and one other part. The technicians guided us!

This is not just an entry level machine

I grew up in Miami and often worked with my dad in a warehouse next door to the original Cafe Bustelo production facility. For decades, I have been trying to produce an acceptable cup of cafe con leche at home. I failed with inexpensive, semi-automatic, single boiler and Nespresso machines. Then, I retired, studied technique and machine reviews, and settled on the Lelit Elizabeth and Mignon Libra. The Elizabeth delivered. It is reasonably priced for an excellent double boiler and it takes up minimal counter space compared to machines with comparable specs. It hits 10 PSI every cycle. I have not adjusted the PSI, because I figure the engineers know what they are doing. Instead, I dialed in the Clive recipe (18g in; 27-30g out in 25-30 seconds) on the grinder and have had great results with virtually every shot. The occasional fail and need for a grind adjustment usually comes when I open a new bag of coffee, which is not a surprise. Once you learn the controls, the Elizabeth is very straightforward. If I turn it on when I awaken, it is ready to go by the time I am dressed. The steamer is adequate, if not as quick as more expensive machines (the steam valve handle is the only cheap part of the machine). The cleaning cycle is very easy. Filling requires either a funnel or a pitcher to be able to reliably pour the water into the smallish tank opening. I use a liter measuring pitcher and have no problems. The stainless steel exterior cleans up with a quick wipe with a damp cloth. I replaced the included portafilter with a bottomless one and Pullman 17-19g basket. Clive was very helpful with helping me fine tune the set up. This machine's description may read "entry level," but it brews and steams reliably and well. I highly recommend this machine, not as a starter machine, but for someone like me who wants to make great espresso every day, has limited counter space, and wants a high quality machine from the get go. I thought that I would start with this machine and upgrade at some point; I have no desire for a "better" machine having become confident and comfortable with the Elizabeth.

I love love love my

I love love love my Lelit Elizabeth. Okay. Seriously. My entry level foray into the world of home espresso was not without some anxiety after 14 years with a Saeco Incanto that did 80% of the work for me. Little did I know that in today’s world of home espresso I was also leaving 80% of goodness on the table…My mind is blown. And I’m far from anyone that posts anything Instagram worthy, but I’m producing crema and cappuccino and it has been a blast. A HUGE shout out to the team at Clive Coffee who answered questions about my my setup, have super helpful and easy to follow videos and have been very responsive. While this is early, Lelit, Mignon and Clive are my new besties. I’ve been saved from the fate of Ophelia!

Hey, Bestie! We’re psyched for you, and always here for you!

They work for about 6 months.

Got mine for Christmas 2024 and it was replaced due to major issues late May 2025. The new machine started throwing Error code 5 late December 2025, about 6 months after it was received. The error code would go away as the machine heated up. Error code 5 is not discussed in the Lelit site but after research, this is a common error and related to the sensor for the double boiler-steam boiler and pressurization. As the problem got worse and recently the machine started making a VERY loud bubbling sound that turned into a loud high pitched whistle. I shut the machine down. I think a pressure relief valve opened. I turned it back on after it cooled and it threw error code 5 , which went away after the machine heated up and now it is leaking water like a sieve from the sheet metal enclosure which the group head is attached to. Now it is not only an explosive hazard but an electrical one as well. Lelit has ghosted me since I opened up a case. After hearing nothing from them, I checked my case status and it said "awaiting consumer response". I was surprised because I have not received a call, an email or a text, all information provided in the technical support form on file (and I have an "account" with them and my machine was registered with them as well. Don't get me wrong; the machine makes a great espresso and cap but in my experience is junk. It is sitting unplugged and unused on my kitchen counter while I count the minutes waiting for Lelit to email text or call me. On the other hand, my Frenchpress is working as designed. Sigh.

The Lelit Elizabeth meets all

The Lelit Elizabeth meets all of my expectations. My wife raves about her friend's Jura machine, but I wanted something that gives me a lot more control to tweak the process, without adding a lot more effort, and simple enough that she could use one of the two programmed settings easily. There is also good feedback on what is going on - well designed that way. The dual boiler design is perfect for my needs, mostly cortados and cappuccinos. I am glad I added the puck screen. While proper dosing, grind and pre-infusion have completely avoided channeling, the puck screen doesn't hurt and it keeps the dispersion screen clean. If you want to spend lots of time refining your game, look for something else, but if you just want a superior pull and have the ability to adapt to a wide range of roasts and origins of the beans, then this is a great choice.

Machine is great! The orientation

Machine is great! The orientation on how to use it was terrible. Person did appear to know how to use machine or the grinder. Therefore we did not get a good start and had to figure most of the process on our own.

Love it.

I have had this unit for 2 years and now was just realizing I should write a review on it. I have used it to make lattes, approximately 2 a day since we got it, and it works just like I hoped. No issues. Perfect expresso. I feel like it works exactly the same right now as when I first got it. My hopes is that it continues to work like this for the next 20 years! Just make sure you get an excellent grinder to go with it.

The machine has been fantastic so far! You can’t find a better dual boiler at the price!! Only drawback is the cheap plastic steam knob.

Review after using machine for a year

I have had my machine for almost a year and use it daily. This is a fantastic machine for its price. I highly recommend it. I find I can pull shots and foam milk easily for several drinks in a row (including time for grinding beans). That’s what I wanted. A good grinder is a must. I have the DF64 and it has worked well! And Clive provides stellar tech support. I’ve needed it to refine my technique!

The most bang for your buck!

If you want to get the most for your money, this machine is it! It is a small compact design, a dual boiler and the steaming power is out of this world, especially for this size machine!! It’s fun to try and perfect latte art as well. I have zero regrets buying this machine. The quailty shots it pulls rival the best at your local coffee shop any day and many times are superior in my opinion! I love love love this machine. I get tons of compliments on it when people come by! If you’re on the fence about this machine, just buy it. You won’t regret it!!!

Elizabeth is a wonder!

She be our first quality home machine. Was going to go 'entry' level...(no double boiler, etc)...and after reading reviews and discussing with the Clive folks, decided to spend the extra few hundred dollars. Very well worth it. Although I do not have anything to compare to, and have only had her for two months, she has lived up to our expectations...using her about 4x per day. Not that I am looking forward to the day when she may start needing repairs, but am very comforted by the fact that everything inside is repairable or replaceable. LeLit, as are many other Italian manufacturers, has a reputation for standing by their product for years and years and years. You won't be disappointed. And most important....my wife loves it!

Craftsmanship should be better

When this espresso machine is working it is great and I enjoy the quality espresso it puts out. Unfortunately my machine has broken twice in the 1.5 years I have owned it, and I feel both of these issues stem from a lack of build quality. First one of the internal washers on the boiler came loose and lead to loss of pressure and moisture inside the machine, This could have easily been fixed by applying teflon tape to these screws when the boiler was installed but for some reason this step was was skipped on production. Next, my water tank started leaking at the point of the plastic weld around the water gauge. This happened in the evening so I woke up the next morning ready to pull a shot to discover a huge puddle of water on the floor/counter. I wish I could recommend this machine more, but these two issues leave much to be desired especially when paying a premium price,

I love it!

I just received my machine two days ago and already have made great foam and pulled shots. Though I still need my new grinder (for a finer grind), which will arrive in a few days. The machine is super easy to use, even the foaming! I agree with other reviews that say it is easy to make a lovely dense foam. I love this machine!! And the Clive team is GREAT to work with! They have been super helpful and given the time I needed to help me decide which machine and which grinder to buy, within my budget.

Delighted

I’ve owned the Elizabeth for 5 months now and couldn’t be happier. It’s well built, reliable and makes a beautiful shot. I typically pull 4 a day for my husband and me, but at times have pulled 10+ , one after another, and just marvel at its consistency. The steam wand is great - very easy to produce a lovely dense foam. I had a Gaggia for an impressive 20 years and after it died was looking to upgrade. Boy, did l ever.
Parenthetically, l paired it with a Niche Zero grinder (not available at Clive’s) which l’m frankly wondering about - it gets a lot of hype and has a lot going for it, but seems to require constant fiddling. Luckily, the Elizabeth is so solid, that l can work through my grinder issues to produce great shots.
I want to highly recommend Clive. They were so helpful during and after purchase, as l was learning how to use the Elizabeth. In those early days, l particularly appreciated their “concierge” service, so l could connect with the same person with questions. I also continue to value the many educational videos and helpful emails. These guys have it down.

Machine was defective right out

Machine was defective right out of the box. I followed the instructions for set up but once I plugged the machine in, the pump would not stop running, the LCC only flashed the "Lelit" name and never allowed any control of the machine and the buttons on the left were never operable. Sent a message directly to Lelit and told them what was happening and they felt it was an electrical problem. Boxed it up and returned it to Clive for a refund.
