How to Rebuild Your E61 Group Head

Changing the gaskets and wearable parts in your group head should be a part of your every three to five year maintenance plan— this length depends upon your usage and water quality. Join our Tech Manager, Zac, as he shows you how to rebuild your E61 group head. Before starting, make sure to get the E61 Group Head Rebuild Kit and tools listed below.

What you’re replacing/ what’s included in the E61 rebuild kit:

  • Camshaft
  • Pre-infusion valve
  • Top brew valve
  • Drain valve
  • 2 Camshaft gaskets
  • 1 Teflon cap
  • 3 Large Teflon gaskets
  • E61 cap filter

Tools you’ll need:

  • 2 adjustable wrenches
  • 1 flathead screw driver
  • Dental pick and/or tweezers 
  • Microfiber towels
  • Molycote Lubricant

Important notes:

  • To safely and more easily perform this repair, ensure your machine is off and fully cool. 
  • Use a microfiber towel in between your machine and the adjustable wrench to avoid any scratching to the chrome.
