The LUCCA Tempo is a compact Italian espresso machine engineered for baristas who want more control without added complexity. LUCCA designed this machine exclusively for espresso enthusiasts who care about shot quality, temperature stability, and the ability to experiment with flow control and pre-infusion, all in a footprint that fits most kitchen countertops. It's exceedingly rare for a machine at this price to deliver flow control, PID temperature control, and programmable features in such a handsome and compact footprint.

Even though it is a single-boiler, the Tempo reaches steam temperature remarkably quickly and delivers the driest, most robust steam pressure of any single-boiler machine we've used. It's built for the home barista who pulls one or two drinks in the morning, appreciates straight espresso, and enjoys the ritual of crafting each shot with intention.

Key Features

  • Manual flow control paddle: Adjust flow in real time during extraction to manipulate flavor and experiment with advanced techniques like declining pressure profiles
  • PID temperature control with shot timer: Maintain precise brew temperature for each shot
  • Programmable pre-infusion: Set custom pre-infusion duration to gently saturate the puck and improve extraction consistency
  • Saturated group head: Thermally stable design borrowed from commercial machines ensures consistent temperature shot after shot
  • Single boiler with vibratory pump
  • Gets to steam mode fast: You still have to pull your shot first (becuase it's a single-boiler), but it gets to steam pressure faster than any other single-boiler on the market
  • Eco and standby modes: Reduce energy consumption when the machine isn't in active use
  • Side-loading reservoir: Easily accessible to refill without needing to move your machine around

Ideal For

The LUCCA Tempo is built for home baristas who want to deepen their espresso practice. If you've outgrown a basic machine and you're ready to experiment with flow profiling and pre-infusion, this is your next step. It's ideal for solo baristas or couples who drink one or two espresso-based drinks per session and don't need simultaneous brew-and-steam capability. If you value a compact design, appreciate Italian build quality, and want a machine you can grow with for years, the Tempo fits the bill. It's also an excellent choice for the home barista who's considering a manual lever machine but wants the forgiveness of a pump and PID while still gaining hands-on control over pressure.

    Wonderful Upgrade

Upgraded from my Gaggia Classic Pro E24 since I wanted a built in PID and better steaming. The Tempo did not disappoint and loved the fast heat up time and more frothy texture of my steamed milk.

Considered most of the popular single boiler machines under the $1,400 range, but the Tempo stood out because of the clean design, walnut wood accents, quality walnut wood bottomless portafilter, flow control lever, and 3 year warranty.

I have found this machine easy to use with very little learning curve. It heats up super quick and you can switch from brewing to steaming very quickly for a single boiler unit.

The combination of PID and flow control is irresistible at the price - if you can stand the size and box aesthetics. Walnut accents are beautiful. The coffee is awesome and predictable.

Just a nice thing to have!

I bought a Lucca Tempo, Eureka Grinder, and a many of espresso accessories from Clive. Awesome products and really great customer service from Clive. It’s my first time setting up an espresso, and I chatted with Clive's team to get all my questions answered. Definitely recommend Lucca stuff.

    Awesome machine! Heats up super

Awesome machine! Heats up super quick, shots pull nicely, and the steam wand is incredibly powerful. If you want to make great espresso based coffee at home, this machine will not let you down! Plus, it looks real nice on the counter.

    Great espresso machine. Heats up

Great espresso machine. Heats up very quickly, takes little space, and is relatively quiet. Easy to use interface. Once you have everything setup -- pre-infusion, flow control position -- it behaves very consistently. I upgraded from a Breville Bambino and can finally make coffee shop quality espresso at home. Clive's customer service was also absolutely superb.

    Best espresso machine ive owned

Not only does this machine make good espresso, it makes great espresso. I now look forward to waking up every morning just so I can make my coffee. The machine heats up quiiiiiick, and the temperature control is on point. For such a compact machine, it can deliver the same high quality results as some of the bigger more expensive machines. And it looks sexy on my counter top so I’d have to give it 10/10. Thanks Clive!

    Love my Lucca Tempo Expresso

Love my Lucca Tempo Expresso machine. Makes great coffee! It is a bit of a learning curve to get started, but Clive coffee has wonderfully helpful videos if you are new to the art of expresso.

    Great espresso at last

Works great. I've only had the Tempo for a couple of weeks but was able to create great espresso with just a little bit of tinkering with the grind and timing. The result is so much better than I got with the Breville machine I'd had for years. It warms up quickly, produces powerful steam if you're frothing milk, and otherwise just works as I'd hoped. I now get a morning espresso that I really enjoy vs one that just helps wake me up.

The only issue is the instructions for programming the PID are confusing and seem incomplete. It isn't clear how to go from changing the temperature scale to setting up Standby mode, setting the steam temp etc. and required a fair amount of trial and error. I'll fiddle with it some more to see if I can figure it out after all; but may have to call Clive to get some guidance. BUT. . . . don't let this stop you from getting this machine. It truly produces a great espresso.

Looks as good as the espresso it brews!

Countless hours of research, I ended up deciding on the Tempo did to it’s incredible design and ability to mess around with some high level features as I dive into the mid - high level of home brewing.

    This is my first espresso

This is my first espresso machine and I have been impressed. The build quality is excellent, the heat up time is fast, the steam is powerful, and the flow control allows me to experiment. Back to back shots is no problem and going from brewing to steaming takes <1min. I make 2-4 drinks a day for and I highly suggest this machine for anyone doing the same.

    This was a gift for

This was a gift for our son. Along with the Eureka Mignon Specialita grinder. He needed a smaller machine to fit in his kitchen & this works for him perfectly. I am amazed at how fast it heats up & is ready to go. We are repeat customers as Clive helped us with our set up a few years ago. The customer service is excellent.

    This machine is a dream,

This machine is a dream, I upgraded from a Breville Barista Express and the difference between the two machines is remarkable. The build quality, heat up time, consistency, and features make it a machine that will hopefully last me years. Every morning I make an espresso for myself, a cappuccino for my wife and then a cortado & and matcha latte a few hours later. The coffee quality is as good or better than most cafes in my city. This machine is perfect for us! Thanks to Clive for their awesome customer support.

Exactly what we’ve been looking for

We’ve been looking for an espresso machine for a while, but nothing quite fit the bill. When the LUCCA Tempo came out, we were very intrigued —it was exactly what we had been hoping for, and Clive made everything super easy. Everyone we talked to was kind and helpful, and the whole process was smooth from start to finish. Every interaction with the Clive team has been five stars, from questions before purchase to delivery and setup

The machine itself has been awesome. The flow control has been fun to play with, and the steam power honestly surprised us for such a small machine. It looks perfect on our counter and makes consistently great shots every day. We haven’t had a single guest over who hasn’t commented on how beautiful it is. We’re so happy we went with this machine and can’t recommend it enough.
